Hey UJ, when I heard it it reminded me of the Shady Grove, Pizza Tapes, Garcia-Grisman, JGAB music. I'm learning how to play guitar right now and I was wowed by Doc. Strumming like that keeps me practicing.

Reed College is very much a liberal arts college. Students don't get grades there. It is an open environment of learning, even these days. Sounds like the Watson brothers were there for a workshop. Agree, the banter was the icing on the cake.

wineland - I've been trying to learn to play guitar for years, and Doc has always been an inspiration for me. I actually took lessons for one semester back 30 years ago, just picked up the guitar again recently. Yes, i love the Pizza Tapes and Shady Grove, etc.-- it's easy to hear Doc Watson's influence on Jerry, and of course Tony Rice is one of the most amazing pickers out there. Other inspirations for me - Norman Blake, David Bromberg, Leo, John Fahey, Rev. Gary Davis, Mississippi John Hurt, Mark Knopfler, many others in my old vinyl collection.

keep playin'.
